KWV has made an impressive mark at the 2024 Trophy Wine Show, securing several top 10 positions and the Trophy for Most Successful Producer Overall – a performance that highlights the “consistent quality” that defines wines from its cellars.
An exceptionally rare bottle of KWV Reserve Port 1929 was auctioned for a remarkable R25,000 at KWV’s first-ever auction held in the iconic Cathedral Cellar on 7 March. This bottle was the final marquee lot, serving as the grand finale in an evening marked by spirited bidding. The auction, notable for achieving a rarely seen “white glove sale”—a term denoting the sale of every lot—was imbued with an extra layer of significance as all the profits were pledged to the Paarl-based nonprofit organisation, NationBuilder (previously known as Valcare).

This Paarl-based producer’s performance at the event earned them the title of “Best Producer” and it was also named Best Achiever for 11 or more wines entered. KWV reaffirmed its position as a leader in the industry with an impressive six Double Gold medals and nine Gold medals for its unfortified wines, three Double Golds and four Golds for its brandy and one Double Gold in the Fortified Wine category.

KWV is once again celebrating multiple medals from the Decanter World Wine Awards 2020. The Decanter World Wine Awards is the world’s largest wine competition, and results in this 17th edition were announced after a month of rigorous judging by respected wine judges.
Roodeberg’s commemorative ‘1949’ red wine launched last year to celebrate the brand’s momentous 70th anniversary, has brought home a Gold medal and a phenomenal score of 96/100 from the 2020 Decanter World Wine Awards in London.
