KWV emerges triumphant at the Veritas Awards 2023, maintaining a winning streak

Cape Town, South Africa – October 14, 2023 – KWV, a name synonymous with excellence in wine and spirits, has once again dominated the prestigious 33rd Veritas Awards, showcasing its remarkable consistency and unwavering commitment to quality. This Paarl-based producer’s performance at the event earned them the title of “Best Producer” and it was also named Best Achiever for 11 or more wines entered. KWV reaffirmed its position as a leader in the industry with an impressive six Double Gold medals and nine Gold medals for its unfortified wines, three Double Golds and four Golds for its brandy and one Double Gold in the Fortified Wine category.

KWV’s outstanding performance in the Tim Atkin 2023 South Africa Report highlights a tradition of excellence

KWV, a cornerstone of South African winemaking, has once again demonstrated its exceptional prowess in the prestigious Tim Atkin 2023 South Africa Report. In his latest report, this British Master of Wine (MW) underscores KWV’s continued commitment to producing top-tier wines, as evidenced by a range of high scores awarded to its wines. This accomplishment follows KWV’s Chief Viticulturist, Marco Ventrella, being honoured as the Best Viticulturist in the 2021 report and the consistent recognition of its wines.

The legacy lives on: John Loomes appointed as KWV’s new CEO

With effect from 1 June, John Loomes will replace Boyce Lloyd as CEO of KWV. The carefully orchestrated leadership transition, which began in July last year, has ensured a seamless handover, positioning KWV for sustained growth and excellence.

KWV extends a hearty congratulations to its Chief Viticulturist, Marco Ventrella. In his
renowned South African Special Report 2021, UK Master of Wine (MW) Tim Atkin, awarded
Marco as “Viticulturist of the Year”.

KWV TAKES CHAMPION RED BLEND AT PRESTIGIOUS SA NATIONAL YOUNG WINE SHOW

The Champion Red Blend of 2021 belongs to KWV. This notable achievement was
announced at the 2021 SA National Young Wine Show, presented by Agri-Expo, where this
Paarl-based producer was awarded the prestigious Vine Products Trophy for SA Champion
Red Blend for its KWV Shiraz/Cabernet Sauvignon/Petite Sirah/Petit Verdot/Cabernet Franc
(wooded). In addition to this phenomenal accomplishment, KWV also celebrates being
named Category Winner for Other Red for its Petite Sirah.
