Cape Town, 9th April, 2015 – KWV, an award-winning, proudly South African brand, has been named as one of the World’s Top 50 Most Admired Wine Brands for the fourth successive year – the only South African wine brand to attain this global accolade.
KWV garnered 35 international wine awards across three global competitions this week. Yesterday KWV won 2 golds, 5 silvers and 3 bronze from the International Wine Challenge (IWC) hailed as the Oscars of the wine trade. This comes hot on the heels of the IMBIBE Sommeliers Wine Awards and Concourse Mondial de Bruxelles earlier this week where KWV was awarded seven golds, 12 silvers and 2 bronze medals across these two award shows.
KWV’s Classic Collection Tawny was awarded a Gold and Regional Trophy at the Decanter World Wine Awards (DWWA) in London this week – the latest in a string of awards KWV has accumulated from DWWA in the past three years.
KWV took the coveted title of Best Brandy & Cognac Producer in the World at the 2015 International Spirit Challenge (ISC) function in London last night – the first time in the ISC’s 20-year history that a brandy not a cognac has won. KWV’s 20 year old brandy, also received the Best Brandy in the World Trophy and the prestigious ‘Grand Champion’ accolade, outscoring Cognac and international brandies, after being judged the favourite of the 9 Gold medal winners by the tasting judges.
Harvest kicked off for KWV on 6th January bringing in the Chardonnay and Pinot Noir for MCC production. It didn’t slow or look back from then on. By the end of February 96% of all our grapes were in the winery. To put this in perspective; this is something that normally happens in the 1st week of April!
KWV has launched its own super-premium London dry boutique gin, hand crafted for a ‘new world’ gin drinking experience.
Cape Town, 25th August – 2015 – KWV was the big winner at the 2015 SA Young Wine Awards, SA’s oldest wine show, on Friday night (21 August), with multiple gold medals and special awards; including the coveted Gen Smuts Trophy for the overall South African champion young wine for its red blend of Cabernet Sauvignon and Shiraz (wooded) beating more than 2,100 contenders.
Consistency of style and focus paid off big time for the KWV team who celebrated a truly finish great moment at the Veritas awards in Cape Town on Friday night, with KWV being crowned Producer of the Year* for fifth consecutive year. KWV garnered an impressive nine Double Gold medals - Six Double Gold medals and 9 Gold for its winning wines and 3 Double Gold medals and 1 Gold for KWV’s award winning brandies.
