Location: Paarl

Purpose: To provide a general support and cleaning service to all the laboratory staff, including assisting with general maintenance of equipment.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12
• 1-2 years’ experience in production environment
• Able to move and carry equipment, furniture and containers with samples around
• A valid light vehicle driver’s licence
• Experience in a similar position in a laboratory will be advantageous

Skills Required:

• Good communication & planning skills
• Attention to detail
• Neat
• Ability to work independantly

Job Summary:

• Support the laboratory analysts by ensuring a sufficient supply of clean dry glassware and general assistance (eg. switching of gas bottles, cleaning of and setting up equipment when needed).
• Assist with general maintenance, cleanliness and sample preparation in the laboratory.
• Maintain clean, tidy and orderly storage of equipment, glassware, chemicals, samples, documents, etc.
• Oversee the preparation of sufficient laboratory quality water.
• Control the orderly movement of samples in the laboratory e.g. samples received, tastings, WIP bench, retention storage, disposal, etc.
• Assist with transport of samples, equipment, chemicals, etc. for the laboratory when needed.
• Ensure the laboratory vehicle is in a good condition all the time.
• Do administration and other tasks required by a lean, self-driven team.
