Location: Paarl Operations

Purpose:  The appointed individual will be responsible for managing both import and export operations of cased goods and bulk products within the supply chain team. This includes the seamless processing of international sales and purchase orders in collaboration with the warehouse. The role requires delivering exceptional customer service aligned with strategic business objectives, managing order placement, supervising loading for both cased goods and bulk, overseeing customs submissions, and tracking work-in-progress orders. Continuous improvement in operational efficiency, productivity, and customer satisfaction is a key focus.

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 qualification
• Relevant qualification in Transport and Logistics and Supply Chain would be advantageous.
• 3-5 years of experience in freight forwarding, with significant exposure to both import and export markets.
• Expertise in handling cased goods and bulk shipments, including African trade and legislative requirements.
• Familiarity with South African Wine Industry regulations (SAWIS & DAFF).
• Strong knowledge of incoterms®2020, customs compliance, and logistics regulations for both cased goods and bulk.
• Understanding of various transportation modes (road, sea, airfreight) for both cased goods and bulk products.
• Proficiency in MS Office applications, with SAP experience as an advantage.
• Experience in managing both import and export processes for cased goods and bulk shipments is essential.

Key Responsibilities:

Export Operations (Cased Goods & Bulk):

• Oversee the end-to-end management of export orders for cased goods and bulk shipments, ensuring timely processing and delivery in designated markets.
• Ensure strict adherence to Service Level Agreements (SLAs) with agents, service providers, and shipping lines for both cased goods and bulk exports.
• Respond promptly and effectively to export customer inquiries, resolving or escalating issues as necessary.
• Supervise the loading of export shipments (cased goods and bulk) at the warehouse to ensure accuracy and adherence to customer specifications.
• Monitor and manage export submissions to meet external deadlines, ensuring proper customs documentation and compliance.
• Optimize shipments for both cased goods and bulk, ensuring efficient loading, routing, and cost-effectiveness.
• Collaborate with freight forwarding agents for bookings, releases, and documentation compliance for both cased goods and bulk exports.

Import Operations (Cased Goods & Bulk):

• Oversee and manage the importation of both cased goods and bulk products, ensuring compliance with customs regulations and internal procedures.
• Coordinate with global suppliers and service providers to ensure timely and accurate receipt of imported goods (both cased and bulk).
• Ensure proper customs documentation, tariff compliance, and cost-effective handling of imports.
• Liaise with freight forwarding agents on bookings, releases, and customs clearance for cased goods and bulk shipments.
• Collaborate with warehouse teams for accurate receipt, storage, and record-keeping of incoming shipments (both cased goods and bulk).
• Monitor supply chain developments affecting imports, especially for bulk and cased goods, and adjust processes to mitigate risks or inefficiencies.

General Responsibilities (Imports & Exports):

• Identify and implement internal process improvements related to both cased goods and bulk logistics, in response to legislative changes or market shifts.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives, driving efficiency and compliance across both import and export operations.
• Manage team training, mentoring, and development, equipping staff with the skills and knowledge needed to handle cased goods and bulk logistics.
• Ensure compliance with international trade regulations, including customs requirements, for both cased goods and bulk operations.
• Drive performance through Key Performance Indicators (KPIs), optimizing costs while maintaining high standards of customer service.
